What I feel...

I feel that all the characters are important as they show the different ways in which the Jews were treated badly; the swimming pool attendant did not allow Friedrich into the changing room, Jewish children were only allowed to go to Jewish schools, Jews were not allowed to watch movies and there were usherettes to check their identification cards to make sure they did not watch movies and so on.

Friedrich is one of the most important characters in the story. If he were not in the story, this story would have no title and if he were a different person, maybe an adult, he would not be good friends with the narrator and the narrator would not be able to share the experiences of Friedrich. He might be brought away with his father and the Rabbi too. Also, if he was not a Jewish, his life would be different and there would be nothing interesting or different to talk about him.
