Poor Pluto Pumps Planet Pace Pouring Pancake-flat
In short, the title's meant to say that Pluto has brought the count down to 8.
In case you have not read my comment to Yu Jian's post, I have my reasons why Pluto should or should not be disqualified.
First, I'm basically thinking of the poor people who will be taking the PSLE this year and in the years to come. If any question comes out about the planets, we'll be as good as stumped as to say whether the smallest planet is Mercury or Pluto or if the furthest planet from the Sun is Neptune or Pluto, and I mean at normal times when Pluto has not passed Neptune's orbit.
And I also think it isn't exactly fair for a planet to lose out just because it 'cheats'. It doesn't even crash into Neptune, just passes its orbit. God took care of the collision. It will never happen. How can they set rules that the planets must follow their own orbit? Besides, I'm also interested to know why the Sun's gravity did not exactly manage to keep Pluto in a circular orbit.
Anyway, speaking of planets and collisions, I think I've read before that Mars' moons, Phobos and Deimos would soon crash into it as they do not follow a perfectly circular orbit. Anyway, I may be wrong about that. Do enlighten me, anyone.
Sorry for sidetracking. That's one side of the story, but this is the other side, although it may contradict, because my alter-ego sometimes kicks in.
Perhaps it could be fair to disqualify Pluto, although it's based on just one lame orbital reason. Well, maybe the scientists think that if it were really from our Solar System and orbits around the Sun, it would orbit in a perfect circle, but whichever way, what else could it be orbiting around? Oh sorry, I'm supposed to be giving reasons why it should be disqualified, right? Alright, at least it's not so bad since in 'English', a dwarf planet is an extremely small planet. Then again, I'm not so sure what exactly a dwarf planet is, but definitely it is justified that Pluto is the smallest ex-planet. If it follows like this about being small, Mercury would be disqualified too quite soon, but if you're talking about orbits... people could say that if Neptune wasn't there, Pluto would not be crossing any other planet's orbit.
Oh well, I'm confused about all this myself, and it's up to you to try and comprehend it.
(Sigh)
(Bigger Sigh)
(Even Bigger Sigh)
(Yawn)
(Gigantic Yawn)
I've just fallen asleep.
