Most important character

Characters:

Narrator
Father
Mother
Friedrich
Herr Schneider
Frau Schneider
Herr Resch
and other characters...

Most important character is... well, there are 2
1. Narrator - no narrator, no story. He is compared to Friedrich, before and after.
Other family not so important
2. Friedrich - the title is Friedrich and also, he was the Jew who was implicated in this story and he was also compared to the narrator. His other family had died or disappeared already during the middle of the story.

Also, the other characters are important in their own way, so they MIGHT be considered main characters. Anyway, I seriously do not know who, out of these 2 is the most important character. Please analyse and comment. Thank you.

What I feel...

I feel that all the characters are important as they show the different ways in which the Jews were treated badly; the swimming pool attendant did not allow Friedrich into the changing room, Jewish children were only allowed to go to Jewish schools, Jews were not allowed to watch movies and there were usherettes to check their identification cards to make sure they did not watch movies and so on.

Friedrich is one of the most important characters in the story. If he were not in the story, this story would have no title and if he were a different person, maybe an adult, he would not be good friends with the narrator and the narrator would not be able to share the experiences of Friedrich. He might be brought away with his father and the Rabbi too. Also, if he was not a Jewish, his life would be different and there would be nothing interesting or different to talk about him.

Talking about Friedrich

I think that Friedrich would be the most important, (that is, along with the narrator in a way as he is the one telling the story) since:
1)The book's title is 'Friedrich'
2)He is the 'main character'
3)He is, in a way, representing the Jews (other than his family) and talks about/shows what happens to them(in the sense that the things that affected all Jews during that time affected him along with his family).

(BUT I really think that the narrator's just as important)

Hi everyone who is here,
Actually I am not sure because without the narrator, there would be no story but without Friedrich, there also wouldn't be a story.

Also another reason for that without the narrator, there would be no story is that if the narrator was taken out of every single part in the book, at the first day of school, after school ended, how come the narrator's parents went to the amusement park? Also, how would Friedrich be able to be brought to the Jungvolk meeting without the narrator? And how would the window have been broken by the narrator's ball without the narrator?

Without Friedrich, well then, it's basically the same thing, eg. Without Friedrich how could this happen, blah blah blah.

Actually, Herr Resch could also be an important character perhaps because of the fact that he appears in many scenes and he was the one who rented the apartment to Friedrich's family and the narrator's family.

So, I deem that the narrator and Friedrich are both equally important and maybe that's the answer but anyway, I don't really think that I have the answer.
P.S. It is strange that the narrator's name isn't even mentioned in the book.
P.S.S. Does anyone know what's his name?
