Anyone creating a post yet?

Er... Mrs Simon and Mrs Nazima, sorry to just post like that but I've been waiting for one of you to post such that I have something to respond to in the blog.

P.S. (to Mrs Simon): Deliberately Deliberating is up but no one can publish any posts.

P.S.S. (to anyone who really bothers about this blog): This is not really a real post a Friedrich by Mrs Simon & Mrs Nazima: How are the anti-Jewish laws created?

P.S.S.S: My own view of the above question.

I think that they are created by order of the latest entertainment and the earliest good jobs, as in firstly outdoor activities had anti-Jew mottos and then even jobs that were supposedly unsackable were now "sackable".

Importance of characters... Most Important is of course Friedrich!!!!

I believe that Friedrich is the most important because:
  • His name is on the Cover page
  • His entire family was involved
  • His family were Jews
  • Without him, the effects on a Jewish family will not have been describable.
  • He showed some outside-home activities that were forbidden to Jew
Also the narrator is equally important because without him, there wouldn't even be this story!

The Most Important Character In Friedrich

Well there are a few main characters in the sotry, namely the Scneiders, Johann Resch, and the narrator's family. Friedrich is the main character here, because the narrator is focusing on Friedrich's actions and also all the events which were happening to him from the narrator's point of view. It was all about Jews, how they were being prosecuted, and also the non- Jews' views and the typical stereotypes of the Jews in those times.

The Search for the most IMPORTANT character in "Friedrich"

The Search for the most IMPORTANT character in "Friedrich"

In this story, the main characters are namely, the narrator, Herr Johann Resch, and Friedrich Schneider.

In third place Herr Johann Resch!
Herr Johann Resch is an important character as it brings out the most important point in the story DISCRIMINATION. Discrimination took place throughout the Holocaust and Herr Johann Resch is used to bring this out through Ploycarp, his little garden dwarf.

In second place... the narrator!!
the narrator is used to narrate the story and tell the readers thtngs that Friedrich did not know. He also tells us most of the story.

AND FINALLY, we come to the winner of The Search for the most IMPORTANT character in "Freidrich"... Friedrich Schneider!!!

Friedrich Schneider is the most important character of all, because without him this story would not even be here as the whole story is about him and his life during the Holocaust. Through his life, one is able to "live through the Holocaust".

~The End~

Main characters of Friedrich

There are two (I think) main characters of Friedrich. They are Friedrich and the narrator (but Friedrich is the MAIN main character so I'm just going to talk about him). I think everyone know's why Friedrich is the main character. He is the reason why this book was written (and I do not think I need to mention that his name is the name of this book) and everything in the book is about him. He sort of 'represented' the Jews and how they were treated by the Germans during the Holocaust. The Jew's houses were ransacked and all thier things destroyed (did that really happen? I did not know there were such evil people). That happened to Friedrich too. I think Friedrich is very important in this book and without him, the story would not exist (the narrator is not really as important as Friedrich because Friedrich himself could be the narrator, but still the narrator's rather important).

Friedrich

I'd say that all the characters are important to the development and realistic-ness (if you can call it that) of the story. They may be one of the protaganists or maybe just a minor character, but they are all significant. Everyone from Frau Penk to the Rabbi is important to the story. They show the progression of the story in some ways, like the man in front of Herr Rosenthal's shop telling people not to buy from Jews. Then it changes to worse things, like his shop wrecked in the Pogrom (or so I'd guess) and passersby scavenging his stationery. The characters as well as the events show how grieviously everything changes with Hitler's rise to power.

THE MOST IMPORTANT CHARACTER

THE MOST IMPORTANT CHARACTER
I think that the most important character is... ... ...
FRIEDRICH!
-followed by the 'Narrator', all the Herrs and Fraus and the Nazis and all the characters in the story

Friedrich is obviouslythe main character mainly because the title is his name and he was shown alot though out the whole book, always being compared to the narrator. He was there to show how the Jews were treated, the narrator was his good friend but a non-Jew. Looking from the narrator's point of view, his family was reduced to dust and dirt while the narrator's family was continually growing because they joined the Nazis.

POOR FRIEDRICH(AM I GETTING OUT OF POINT ???)

If you click on the text, you will see an image representing the clash between the non-Jews and Jews in Germany.

Characters of <>

Important characters:
1) Friedrich (DUH)
2) Herr Schneider
3) Herr Resch
4) Narrator
5) Hitler (he was the one who caused the happenings in WWII right?)

The story was written not from Friedrich's point of view but from the narrator's (a German) poin of view, even though Friedrich is still the most important character. His name is the name of the book itself and he is in almost every single part of the story.

Monday, April 03, 2006

The important characters in this book are namely the narrator, Herr Resch, Herr Schneider and of course, Friedrich.

Friedrich is most important in this story as although written in the author's point of view, it was based on the happenings of Friedrich before and during the Holocaust, mostly about the events which happened to Friedrich. Every event that happened was written in detailed and he was also one of the most mentioned character apart from the author. Therefore, Friedrich is the focus and the main character of the story. So, without Friedrich, there would be no story.

THE most important character (:

Heya. Firstly, I would like to thank Rachel for her FANTASTIC blogpost. I really learnt from that. I totally agree with her. This is the information that I have gathered:

The narrator - (in the 1st person account) the reader will see everything from his point of view; pereption at that age, or in that situation. As the narrator is not omniescient, he may not know some things (that is not revealed to him in the story), but we do, as the readers who know everybody's thoughts and feelings.

The main character - the story will revolve around this person, and/or the immediate people around him. Therefore he is the central figure. He will be mentioned throughout the whole story.

---

Friedrich - He is mentioned throughout the whole story and the readers can observe his development, from a young, innocent boy who can enjoy simple previleges like playing carefreely in the snow to an older, more mature boy who has to learn survival skills in the cruel environment.

Narrator - He is the one who tells the whole story about his close friend, Friedrich. He lives in the same period as Friedrich and is about the same age, this makes it easier for the readers to contrast him and Friedrich. This is also because the narrator is not a Jew; the readers can contrast the behaviour of the society towards both of them.

---

Thank you all for reading.

WHO, is the most important in the book-Friedrich?

The most important characters, I shall list them from the most to least important.

-Friedrich
-"Me"
-The Schneider family
-"My"family
-Herr Resch
-German Nazis
-Helga
-Frau Penk

My explanations:

Friedrich, is obviously the most important, as we can see from the title itself.
However, the title does not mean anything. Friedrich is the most important character because he is the person whom the author includes the most participation in the story. His life had changed the most. "I", being his best friend, would have a close relation with him. Therefore, "I" am the next in line.

I do not think the next two needs explanations as you can see for yourselves.

Herr Resch is the next most important as he "played a part" in Friedrich's death. The Nazi Germans too, so they go next in line.

Helga is next, as she had somewhat had a relation with Friedrich, and Frau Penk, the last as she does not have much participation in the story.

The Friedrich Debate

I think Friedrich or the narrator ( his friend ) is the main character as this story would not be told if not for these characters. The plot is based on their lives and from true facts such as events during the Holocaust. The formula is " no main character = no story "
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
However, this depends on our definition of main character. In some points it differs from the most important character.

Main characters are those that are the main focus of the story ( e.g. in AWIT the main character is Meg as the whole story focuses on her and her journey to search for her father. ) OR those that are close to the above said person.

The most important character, however, is the one that has a large impact on the plot ( e.g. if not for Meg's father disappearing, the story AWIT won't exist. After all no one in their right mind would whisk you off to fight some huge brain for absolutely no reason. ). I am starting to feel confused, so let's assume they are of similar meaning.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And, ( drumroll ), the list of important characters in Friedrich:

1. Friedrich!
Reason: Without him, this story is nothing. Furthermore, in a way he represents the Jews. The whole plot revolves around him. And, NO, not ORBIT.

2. The Narrator!
Reason: If the narrator did not tell the story there will not be this book. This follows in the above-mentioned formula.

3.Herr Schneider!
Reason: From here the author can use facts such as the Persecution to put action in the plot. After all it is historical fiction! He is important as there would be little action in the story if the author does not include him. Some problems stem from him being a Jew, just like Friedrich.

4. Herr Resch! ( NOT HER RASH )
As he was a Nazi member, for the same reason as Herr Schneider he is also vital to the story.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That is all I have to say. DISCLAIMER: The author of the above comment will not be held responsible for any mistakes. To err is human.

MOST Important?

Hi all,

relating to what Mrs. Nazima talked to 6/11 abt today - what defines the M.I.C. (is it necessarily the Main character?) - these are my views. Feel free to comment or post your own entries.

Well, I think that the Most Important Character ought to be either two characters of the story:
1. the narrator
or
2. the main character

Reasons?
Well, I shall firstly refer to #1 - the narrator. The narrator is, after all, the person who tells the story. If the story is written from a first person account, a.k.a the narrator is in the story itself, all his (or her) feelings, emotions, thoughts and actions are vividly decribed in the story, because it is HIS (or her) point of view. Of course, this only applies to good narratives. Bad ones don't usually have feelings inside (that's exactly why they're called bad.)
So anyway, since all these details are included through the narrator, the narrator is important. Otherwise, it wll be tougher allowing the reader to really experience the events in the story individually.

As for the #2 character - the Main character. He (or she) should be 95% of the time, the M.I.C.
The reason is that that person is actually the central figure of the story itself. The story usally follows or trails the mentioned events in the life of the character through the story. So, the story actually somehow revolves around the main character. Everything about him is closely followed and described. This is why he (or she) is so very important to the story. This is the main person included in the plot of the story, and he (or she) is also the one who is most commomnly mentioned in the story.

Tks for reading.

Important Characters should be.................

The book's main characters are mainly(NOT in order of important):
1)The narrator and family
2)Friedrich and family
3)Herr Resch

I think that these characters are the most important as the story mostly revolves around Friedrich's life as a Jew and it also shows the discrimination shown towards him. The narrator is important as the story is from his point of view, one that is of a German ,who unlike the stereotype German at that time, did not dislike Jews. Herr Resch is there(not forgetting his Garden Gnome)as he was a German who disliked Jews as he was there to show the treatment given to Jews. Even though such discrimination is shown throughout the book, Herr Resch's cruelty towards Jews was the most apparent!

The most important character in Friedrich

I think Friedrich is the most important character because:
1)His race is the most discriminated(Jews).
2)He spoke the most dialogue.
3)The author described the most about him.
4)He had the most actions(e.g.hiding from the Nazis).
5)He had the most feelings(e.g.exasperated because he needed to get into the bomb shelter)

THE Most important character is Friedrich

In order of importantance starting from the most to the lest is:
1.Friedrich
2.The Narrator
3.The Narrator's Family
4.Friedrich's Family
5.Herr Resch

The other characters are not important and are just to add more contents to the books.
I think Friedrich is the most important character as he represents the Jews and most of the troubles happened on him. The story seems to revolve around him and the narrator's point of veiw. Without Frieddrich, most of the action in the book would be gone and it would no longer be a good read.

CHARACTERS

The characters I think are important are: Friedrich(duh!), the narrator(another duh!), the narrator's parents, Friedrich's parents and Herr Resch.
I think Herr Resch is important as heshows how much the nazis hated Jews and how the hatred of Jews actually escalated from a mild dislike to HATRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The most important character

I think all the characters are important as they show how the jews were mistreated, but the title speaks for itself, Friedrich and the narrator are the most important as the story is all about them, if Friedrich was not a jew, there would be nothing about the jews to write about. Herr Resch and Herr Schneider are the next most important and the rest of the characters are not so important. If Friedrich or the narrator was not present, there would not even be a title, or there would be no story, because the narrator has to write the story and Friedrich is the main focus of the story.

The most important character

I think the most important characters are Friedrich and the narrator because the whole story is about them, especially Friedrich. Without the narrator, there will also be no story.

The Most Important Character in Friedrich

The Most Important Characters in Friedrich (in order of importance):

Friedrich

Friedrich's Friend a.k.a. The Narrator

The Not So Important Characters in Friedrich (in order of importance):

  1. Frau Schneider
  2. The Narrator's family
  3. Rabbi
  4. Helga
  5. Frau Penk

Why Friedrich is the most important character in 'Friedrich':

Friedrich is the most important character (or as they say the main character) because the story revolves around him. It traces his life from a young age of 4 to 17. During that time, Friedrich could not go to the movies, could only sit on certain benches, could not go to the swimming pool, and could not do or own many other things, all for an unjustified reason - he was a Jew.

I thing the narrator is important too, because without him, there would be no story, but he is not as important as Friedrich though.

Friedrich - The Most Important Character in 'Friedrich'

I think the title speaks for itself.

Friedrich to me (and I realise to a lot others) is the MOST important character in the story. I am also wondering why Hans Peter Richter did not put Friedrich himself as the narrator, and instead someone anonymous person the same age as Friedrich. He might have wanted his readers to look at the Jewish discrimination from a non-Jewish's point of view. Whichever way, Friedrich experienced all the bad times (correct me if I should be using any other tense). After all, his mother was not there to experience it and his father was hardly mentioned after he got deported. Friedrich could not go to the movies, could only sit on certain benches, could not go to the swimming pool, and lots more, all for a ridiculous, unjustified reason - he was a Jew.

So, all this proves that the main story is about Jewish discrimination in the life of a young boy growing into a young man - Friedrich. The other characters are important to the plot, but he is at the top.

Anyway, the other characters are as follows:

Important:
Narrator
Herr Resch
Herr Schneider

Not so important:
Frau Schneider
Rabbi
Helga
The Narrator's family
Frau Penk

The Most Important Person

The main/most important characters are:
  • Narrator
  • Father
  • Mother
  • Friedrich (Most important of all.)
  • Herr Schneider
  • Frau Schneider
  • Herr Resch

Friedrich is definitely the main character as firstly, the book is titled Friedrich and secondly completely not one chapter and almost not a single page does not have the name Freidrich in it. He is also very important as he was a Jew in the story an was used to show just about all the things that the Jews suffered.

M.I.C.

Your Honour, I beg to move.

In my opinion, the M.I.C.s (short for Most Important Character(s)) are ranked according to the top five in descending order:

1. FRIEDRICH
2. Herr Schneider
3. Herr Resch
4. Friedrich's friend a.k.a. Narrator
5. Frau Schneider

We shall now join a talk show where Friedrich is being interviewed. Good, we're just on time.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The lucky interviewee on our talk show today is ...(drumroll)... FRIEDRICH!

warm applause from audience

Me: Welcome to the yawn-a-lot talk show, where we do the talking and YOU do the yawning. Great for sleepless nights. Every episode, we invite a famous charater to join us and talk about some stuff, depending on what we feel like. Today, we have Friedrich, a German-Jew. He was made famous by Hans Peter Ritcher, the author of the book Friedrich, named after the main charater, Friedrich himself! Well Friedrich, would you please tell us about your role in the Book?

Friedrich: (speaks German)

Me: Oh, I'm sorry, hold on a moment please... Could we have a translator here?

translator comes after a boring five minutes... audience yawns

Me: Yes, Friedrich. Please continue.

Friedrich: (repeats in German)

Translator: Alright. So, the story is told from the viewpoint of the narrator, which is my so-called best friend. As close friends and neighbours, we lived our lives together, in a way. So, his story is actually based on my life, from a little playful 4-year-old to a tall serious 15-year-old, orphaned (sort of), and frightened for his life. It is a really touching story, of how the narrator, a German boy the same age as me, had a father who was a member of the German Nazi Party, because of financial needs. The two families were very close, and Hitler was at the same time ruthlessly persecuting the Jews. Soon, their family had to decide where to draw the line before it got too late; should they obey the corrupted law, or should they follow their consience and help Friedrich?
Hold on, I need some water.

Audience yawns simultaneously (and very very loudly too!)

Friedrich: (mutters in German)

Translator: What's that?

Friedrich: (speaks German)

Translator: Okay. So then, continuing from earlier, it is, for them, a Man vs Self conflict. As for the Schneiders, they did nothing wrong except being born as Jews. A lot of new laws were made, very biased against Jews. Also, Herr Resch, the landlord, wanted to kick the Schneiders out of their house. Herr Schneider thus brought Herr Resch to court, and fortunately, justice prevailed. However, many unfortunate events followed - Frau Schneider died, Herr Resch was sent away to a consecration camp, leaving poor Friedrich alone. And all these sad events that hapened to Friedrich, changing his life forever, were seen through the eyes of the good freiend of the Jewish boy. So in this way, I, the main character am really important to the story. Actually, I MAKE UP the whole story. It all revolves around me. Yes, that's right. Me! Isn't that cool?

Audience yawns, no one bothers to cover his/her mouth

Me: ( looks at watch) So now there we go! See you on the next episode of the yawn-a-lot talk show, where we do the talking and YOU do the yawning. Goodbye!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So from here, we can somehow see the importance of Friedrich in the story - he is the main character, so as he said, the whole story revolves around him. Without him, there wouldn't be any suspense in the story, no plot, no way the author would be able to allow you to experience the Holocaust yourself.

With this, your Honour, I rest my case. Thank you.

The important characters are...

The most important characters in the story will definitely be Friedrich and the narrator. The entire story revolves around Friedrich, everything is about him. The narrator also plays an important role, however, because he was Friedrich's close friend and looked at him from a different perspective. The narrator and his family tried to help Friedrich's family as much as they could. Ultimately, without Friedrich there would be no story, and without the narrator there would be no one to tell the story.

The other important characters will be the two families and Herr Resch. In the end, Herr Resch indirectly killed Friedrich by not letting him into the bombshelter, ending his miserable life

Most important character

Important Characters
  • Narrator
  • Friedrich
  • Herr Resch

I think the most important character is Friedrich. The whole story revolves around his life and since it is set during the holocaust in Germany during WWII and Friedrich is a Jew thus he represents what would happen to a Jew in the different circumstances thus that make him an important character.
